Government Shutdown Likely to Double Food Pantry Demand
Dear Friend of the Pantry, This past week, I’ve been holding my breath, hoping for a resolution to the government...
It is with great excitement and gratitude that I update the Community on the status of the new Pantry. As of September 25, GCFP has been operating out of our new home at 114 South 14th Street, Gunnison! Thank you to all the volunteers and businesses that helped make the move happen. Special thanks to Western Lumber, Alpine Moving, Camp4Coffee, Mochas Coffee House and Bakery, and Mario’s Pizza!
The Pantry needs the help of the Gunnison Valley to keep Pantry shelves stocked; with increased facility space and more guests coming to Shop the Pantry, your support is needed more than ever. Most needed items are staples such as peanut butter, jelly, soups, grains, frozen meat, frozen vegetables/fruit, and healthy cereals. Please consider what items you or your family would enjoy and donate those!

Gunnison Country Food Pantry cordially invites you to attend the Pantry’s Grand Opening Celebration on October 10, from 3-6p, at our new location 114 S 14th Street. Light refreshments will be provided.

Thank you to the 97 volunteers, and 4 new volunteers, who donated 734 hours to feeding their neighbors in August!
As of August,1,686 unique individuals or 828 households have benefited from free groceries and visited the Pantry 5,471 times.
Want to put your muscles to good use? October 4 is truck day! Email Angie at pantrymanager@gunnisoncountryfoodpantry.org or call (970) 641-4156.

Many food pantries are familiar with the concept of referring their clients to other nonprofits that can help meet needs beyond food. Read about how Gunnison Food Pantry is easing into warm referrals with the help of a Community Coordinator.
One of the defining traits of the Gunnison Valley is our tight-knit community. It grounds us, supports us, and often gives us purpose—especially in uncertain times. I hope you’ll join me in doubling down on your support for the Food Pantry. Now more than ever, we need to stand strong together. Thanks to people like you, the Pantry is on strong footing. But no one could have predicted the growing pressures we’re now facing.
